LoRaWAN Scheduling: From Concept to Implementation

چکیده

While the Internet of Things continues to grow, LoRaWAN standard is generating special interest due its open-source nature, ultralow-power consumption and long-range connectivity. Recent works have explored challenges implementing LoRaWAN, with scalability being considered one major bottlenecks imposed by Aloha-based medium access control (MAC) layer. Despite much on-going research on scheduling aimed at alleviating this concern, experimental approaches are rarely found in literature. In work, we describe steps taken technical issues overcome move from a low-overhead synchronization concept real-world implementation top Class A. Accordingly, an end-to-end architecture was designed deployed STM32L0 MCUs, which communicate central entity responsible for providing metrics allocating transmission slots demand. The clock drift devices measured temperature-controlled chamber, served as basis define slot lengths network. As result, operational system implemented evaluated different setup scenarios, 10-ms accuracy achieved. Our results show significant improvements packet delivery ratios respect setups, especially under high network loads (up 29% SF12), thereby demonstrating feasibility presented approach.

SWARM-BOT: from concept to implementation

This paper presents a new robotic concept, called SWARM-BOT, based on a swarm of autonomous mobile robots with self-assembling capabilities. SWARM-BOT takes advantage from collective and distributed approaches to ensure robustness to failures and to hard environment conditions in tasks such as navigation, search and transportation in rough terrain. One SWARM-BOT is composed of a number of simpl...

Coordinated Atomic Actions: from Concept to Implementation

The Coordinated Atomic Action (or CA action) concept is a unified scheme for coordinating complex concurrent activities and supporting error recovery between multiple interacting objects in a distributed object-oriented system. It provides a conceptual framework for dealing with different kinds of concurrency and achieving fault tolerance by extending and integrating two complementary concepts ...

Virtual Observatory: From Concept to Implementation

We review the origins of the Virtual Observatory (VO) concept, and the current status of the efforts in this field. VO is the response of the astronomical community to the challenges posed by the modern massive and complex data sets. It is a framework in which information technology is harnessed to organize, maintain, and explore the rich information content of the exponentially growing data se...

Sustainable benefits of IT investments: From concept to implementation

Information technology (IT) benefits are often indirect and are not easy to demonstrate. Often the problem associated with IT investments magnifies because IT-enabled benefits tend to dissipate over time. In this paper we develop the concept of sustainable IT-enabled benefits. First we develop the concept of sustainability as it applies to IT. Following that, we base our conceptual framework to...
